This sacred online space is named for Saint Hildegard von Bingen, a rebel nun who challenged Catholic Church and world leaders in twelfth century Europe. An abbess, mystic, artist, musician and writer, Saint Hildegard was a visionary, canonized and named a Doctor of the Church by Pope Benedict in 2012. It is in her spirit that we present Hildegard’s List — a growing litany of American Catholic parishes that are, in their daily Masses and social media, witnessed to be amplifying the Catholic social teachings of Pope Leo — specifically regarding the systematic dehumanization of immigrants and the marginalization of the poor. Or not.
